With the rapid depletion of resources like oil and coal, the world is actively seeking sustainable, efficient, and eco-friendly energy alternatives. Biochar, a versatile material, can be produced from diverse sources including agricultural residues, forestry waste, and urban organic matter. Moreover, biochar preparation methods such as pyrolysis, hydrothermal carbonization, and microwave-assisted techniques offer flexible production options. Concurrently, physical, chemical, and microbial modifications can enhance biochar’s properties, enabling it to address energy challenges, restore the environment, and promote agricultural development effectively.
